the region of castles | in 1997 we realized the project »burgenregion ostallgaeu außerfern/tirol« (eastallgaeu/tyrol – a region of castles). this was our first project together with joachim zeune‘s »büro für burgenforschung« (office for castle research). many more should follow in germany and beyond – even the initial project got a completely different dimension. so this broadly planned project (supported by leader plus), which has been running from 2005 to 2007.

it includes 23 towns and boroughs with 37 castles and ruins and so this project has become a kind of model for similar projects in central europe. to secure the visitors a easy access to this fascinating chapter of the past several sanctions had to be arranged: from didactic site-developments, promotional measures to a castle guide and the creation of an internet platform as well as work on the general framework like an improvement of the traffic security. the content‘s intermediation is exciting but also scientificly serious.
