towermuseum | in the middle of the world heritage »oberes mittelrheintal« – above the city oberwesel am rhein – is the location of the scenic schoenburg. the former well-fortified castle, was first mentioned 1166. nowadays it is administered on the one hand by the »burghotel auf schoenburg« as well as the »kolping auf schoenburg«. through the kolpinghaus and the cooperation with dr. joachim zeune we got the contract to create a new concept and design for the museum.
the kolpinghaus at schoenburg exists already since 1954. it is mainly used as meeting place for families and senior citizens. over that it can host conferences, seminars or choir- and orchestra practices. together with both house leaders and financial support of the leader plus project – benefits of the european union – the association »internationale jugendburg kolpinghaus auf schoenburg« founded a initiative for a small museum. with great personal engagement the two kolpinghaus leaders, anja and guenther kaspari where together with scientific support of dr. zeune responsible for the contents of the towermuseum, as well as the print-material.
the exhibition in gatetower guides you through five floors illustrating the over 700-years old history of the tower. the content and visuals of the museum-concept were created following all important topics – »the castle in the war«, »building-history of the gatetower« and »preservation of monuments and castle research« over that signets for each topic were created, which relate to the new developed corporate identity.
for visitors there are different topic-banners, all-round exhibits and additional information on the medieval castle-life waiting. all together the climb consists of 120 steps through the museum and leads to the great look-out in the 5th floor. the whole museum-design was completed by us through a flyer and different posters for the towermuseum.
